Yahoo published that Hackers have hacked names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and encrypted or un-encrypted security questions and answers of more than 1 billion yahoo account.
On Wednesday, Company has published a statement on its official site and saying that it had “taken steps to secure user accounts and is working closely with law enforcement.”
Further, the company says;
“As Yahoo previously disclosed in November, law enforcement provided the company with data files that a third party claimed was Yahoo user data. The company analyzed this data with the assistance of outside forensic experts and found that it appears to be Yahoo user data. Based on further analysis of this data by the forensic experts, Yahoo believes an unauthorized third party, in August 2013, stole data associated with more than one billion user accounts. …
The investigation indicates that the stolen information did not include passwords in clear text, payment card data, or bank account information. Payment card data and bank account information are not stored in the system the company believes were affected.”
This is the second time that yahoo’s private user information have been breached in the past three months.
Back in September, the company announced that the information of 500 million accounts had been stolen in 2014.
The company is giving resemblance in both crimes, the company claims that the hackers have stolen the same type of information.
Moreover, the company says it believes both attacks were different. Just like in past, the company has published FAQ page to answer questions from users
In both cases, Yahoo said forensics expert had compared few elements of Hacking to a “state-sponsored actor” but did not provided the information about the government which is supporting the hack.
