This past week, Microsoft wrote in a blog post that the company is making improvement in real-time translation feature to support mobile and landline calls on Skype.
Users can enjoy it even if the other caller is not on Skype or doesn’t have Skype.
Back in 2014, the company has initially introduced Star Trek-like ‘Translator’ functionality but has been making improvements in it to make it more user-friendly.In 2015, the company has made this feature available for all the users. But before this improvement, the feature is only available on Skype to Skype calls.
Presently, users can only enjoy this feature by signing in or making free registration on Windows Insider Program, which is updated version of Skype Preview and also for paying some credit for calls.
The translation feature option works in same ways as it does in standard Skype calls.

- Toggle the translator
- select the language
Follow steps to activate this latest feature:
Select the dial pad, enter a phone number to see [the] Translator option next to the call button. Tap it to bring up settings for Translator. From here set the languages and place the call. Once the person on the other side picks up they will hear a short message stating that the call is being recorded and translated through Translator and then you can start talking!
The app supports following languages:
English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Arabic, and Russian.
